Peter,
Sitting here recouping from knee replacement one week ago. I knew that there were machines that had multiple draw bull blocks. I also thought that they generally were for steel. Other than the old (new then) Syncro rod block which we sprayed lubricant on the rod and blocks, I thought most of the rod and large wire COPPER break down machines usually either flood the capstans with lubricant or half submerge them.
Equipment has certainly come a long way as the link shows. The vast improvements in digital speed, tension controls, etc are probably the most significant improvements - using different colors certainly helps to. Vista green, battleship gray, etc. are a bit dated today.

Hello Again Richard,
I sincerely hope your knee surgery went well and that you will be out playing football shortly.

I looked at the video and what I saw looked a lot like a Syncro 13 die machine that had been upgraded with better electronics, etc. I know that making money today is a challenge, however it seems to me that we should be able to make this type equipment here economically and successfully.

It's bad enough when they steal a design...but they should at least change the color scheme!

Hello Richard,
You know with all the wire and cable plant closures in North America over the last twenty-five years or so, there must be enough used drawing machines around (Rod breakdown, intermediate and fine) to sink a battleship. Moreover it is technically straightforward and relatively inexpensive to mechanically refurbish used drawing machines and to add new digital drives and advanced controls to them. It all depends on the application.
Just an unfortunate fact of life these days.
Cheers,
