We have 3 TSI CB100 units.
And 5 or 6 Beta-Lasermike counters.

Personally I'm very unhappy with this equipment because we I have lost count on the times that they broke down.
We never have all our units in working condition.
Beginning this year we bought a Proton for our new MDCV line. It had also been broken already.

They can not beat a simple wheel with an encoder.
The encoder+wheel can also be fixed by any technician.

Don't know about the current equipment but the original laser mikes were very sensitive as they had rotating mirrors. We had ours mounted on table with pneumatic tires so that when we moved it from one machine line to another, the mirrors were not jostled. Lear unit did not use mirrors and was more durable. At that time both were used for dimensional measurement not footage meters.

Sometimes low tech makes more sense than high tech.

I have used Zumbach, Takikawa, Sikora, and Beta laser diameter gauges in the past with good success. I have seen older Target equipment with dust on it shoved in the back corners of storage rooms.

But give the speed measurement manufacturer a chance to make the products better.

Here also an interesting speed/length measurement instrument.
It is called "LDA - Laser-Doppler-Anemometrie" and the manufacturer is the company "VIENCO".
It is developed for the textile industry (threads and yarns) and it is very small. And by the way it is very cheap as every machine element on a textile machine.
