Wire Pointing Equipment was created by Archived Forum Admin
Hi,
I'm looking for equipment that is able to point up a hard non-malleable material. The material is hot drawn and is brittle at room temp so conventional roller pointers will just splinter the rod. Currently we manually grind a point onto the wire but it is fairly time consuming. We could hot swage but again it is slow and takes a number of die changes to get a suitable point.
I was wondering if there is anyone who knows of a point grinding machine that might make the job easier or of any other technologies that exist to achieve the same aim.
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,
You may want to discuss your specific requirements with Electrorrec in Spain. They may be able to modify an existing machine to meet your requirements if the wire size range isn't too large.

Hi Mike,
We have a shave pointing machine as part of our product line. The machine is used to shave a point in the end of the wire/bar.

Have you tried heating and then pulling until it elongates, necks down and breaks?
