Wire length

Can any one let me know the general formula for calculating the length of the wire in a spool in meters /kms. I need to calculate the wire length of a Co2 welding wire which is wound in 12.5 Kg spools with 0.8 mm ,1.00 mm and 1.2 mm . I will be grateful if somebody gives me a correct direction

Would a real easy way be to weight the spool without wire and then subtract that tare weight from the total wire plus spool weight. This would give you the net wire weight. Then take a wire chart and even if you don't have one for copper clad steel wire you could use a steel wire chart and generally they list the weight by either pounds per 1000 feet (or Kg/kms.) or feet per pound (Kms/Kg)

With this data you can divide the net weight by either Kg/kms to get total Kms.

You can get fairly close as the difference in weight between copper clad and non-copper clad is not that significant but if you were concerned you can calculate the cross section of copper and cross section of steel. Coppper weights about 1/3rd of copper so it is not that difficult to determine the weight per unit of length.
