Pressurized Cables was created by Archived Forum Admin
We are making a Cable Sample of Dry Core Copper Telecom cable which is required to pneumatically tested to a pressure of 800 millibars and shall sustain a constant pressure of 630 ± 50 millibars. The cable is required to be despatched under this pressure. The cable is made up of units of 25 twisted pairs, wrapped with polyester tape,Screened with Aluminium Foil and sheathed with Polyethylene.

Please suggest necessary precautions or any special care to be taken care during manufacturing w.r.t. the requirement of supply of such cables under air pressure. Please forward any technical paper available for the above.

800 millibars equals 11.6 psi gage. Never ever allow the aluminum screening tape to protrude into the sheath.
