Since I have some time on my hands these days, I found the following. Polyimide is used on fiber optic filament as well as wire and the sizes are quite small. Below are some links to ways to strip the coating off the fiber. Some are are fiber optic filament but should work for copper wire. I have also shown the old formula using NMP. I believe if time is not essential, you can place a sample in the NMP, let sit, and when you remove from the NMP pull the wet end of the sample through a gauze or cheese cloth pad. If not adequately removed, soak some more and repeat process. Once enough is removed, dip in deionized water to remove any NMP and dry.

Wet Strip Process:
The following is a typical procedure for removing
soft baked, photocross-linked polyimide.
1. NMP at 85°C for 5 minutes
2. QZ3322 polyimide stripper at 70°C for 5 minutes
3. NMP at room temperature for 5 minutes
4. DI water rinse, dry completely
(Note: NMP is N-Methylpyrrolidone solvent.
